2024 Update

Illness has caused a big disruption to Davey's musical efforts lately. Scary hospital admissions resulted in the enforced cancellation of numerous gigs and overwhelming fatigue left Davey pretty much bed-bound for nine months.

Things are improving! Recently, Davey has been tollerating his immunotherapy much better and has been able to pick up a mandolin again. He has sold a couple of instruments in the last month which gave some people a worrying (and false) impression that he was no longer planning to play. The truth was that, having been able to start playing again, he wanted to rationalise his collection and buy the instruments he really wanted. This was made easier by an unexpected and substantial royalty pay-out. His old song The Magpie featured on a major American TV show, 'True Detective' and he was handsomely rewarded for this!

Davey will be back on the boards this August. He is going to be playing on Saturday, the 17th at the fabulous 3 Wishes Fairy Festival in its new location, near Glastonbury. Gillie Hotston and Colette DeGiovanni will be joining him on-stage for what should be a special gig. Other dates are being booked and Davey intends to be properly active again. Touring isn't an option and he plans to concentrate on events and concerts nearer to his home in the Cotswolds. The full band will rehearse to enable them to play shows to promote the new CD.

Plans are also afoot to restart work on the proposed 'Wheel of the Year' album. Two tracks have been mixed and mastered and were released as singles this year. Four of the other six tracks are written and the remaining two pieces have been started. Davey will start recording demos for the outstanding tracks this week. There will be a song or a musical work for each of the eight Druidic Sabats. The band members will then be able to bring their creativity and stunning musical abilities to the project. Everyone is excited at the prospect and Rick Connolly at Beehive Sounds Studio will use his skills to produce the fourth album of his collaborations with Davey.

There is also exciting news about a new publishing deal. Proper Music, who publish 'The Magpie', are taking on Davey's recent compositions that feature on 'Toadstool Soup', 'The Rite of Spring' and 'Cask Strength'.They will also be publishing the songs and music on the forthcoming 'Wheel of the Year'. They will be working on getting licencing deals for the new material. Davey has a successful history of material being used for television programmes, stage shows and theatre productions. Fingers will be crossed!

It's great that Davey is returning to playing, writing and performing. We will keep you up to date with developments and will also put up videos of Davey playing 'the bones' of some new pieces, ready for the band to work on.

2022 Update

As if the corona chaos wasn't bad enough, cancer has decided to sabotage Davey's

burgeoning musical career. Along with the immunotherapy treatment, it steamrollered Davey and he had to concentrate on staying alive and rationing his energy

expenditure. The last proper gig that we played as a band was at Corinium Museum

in October (sold out) and a string of subsequent shows had to be cancelled.

Davey is coming out on the other side of this disruption and is looking to play again

with some long-standing solo gigs. Solo festival slots are easier for him to handle

than full-blown band shows at the moment.

Things are also coming back to life on the recording front. The 'Cask Strength' mini

album has demos for five of the six tracks sorted and a start has been made on 'proper

album track recordings' for some of the pieces. Also, most of the tracks for the

forthcoming 'Wheel of the Year' concept album have been written and some parts

have been recorded at Beehive Sounds Studio in Cornwall. Rick Connolly will once

again weave his magic and turn the ingredients into a heady brew.

We will keep you posted

THE RITE OF SPRING IS HERE!

Rather than Let the Corona chaos dominate everything, Davey has been hard at work producing his masterwork 'The Rite of Spring'. Alongside a plethora of musicians the album was recorded across the country in studios, kitchens, offices and garages. A real labor of love that has turned out a superb career defining album for Davey. You can order you copy now from the Store

"I do like this album, it’s a polished production, happily mixing old and new, and you don’t have to be a druid, or a “pagan” or a folkie to enjoy it! Davey writes quite sparse but subtly mesmerising arrangements that are nevertheless able to capture the essence of the seasons as they traverse the earth, the band comprising some very talented musicians using a fascinating mix of electric instruments to weave a contemporary, hypnotic, almost ambient-rock feel."
